Who we are
USA Hockey Stats is a youth-hockey statistics site run by a single independent developer, not by USA Hockey, SCAHA, NorCal, or any league, club, or governing body. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. Questions about this policy go to privacy@usahockeystats.com.
There are no visitor accounts
The public site has no sign-up, no login, and no newsletter. We do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details, and there is nowhere on the site to give them to us. We do not run advertising, and we do not sell or share personal information with anyone for advertising purposes.
What we collect when you visit
Standard web analytics, and nothing else. When you load a page, Google Analytics records that a visit happened and some technical context about it: the page you viewed, the approximate region you connected from (derived from your IP address, not stored as your full IP), your browser and device type, and the site that referred you. We also record in-page actions such as searching, switching age-level filters, and clicking through to a team or player page.
This is used in aggregate, to see which parts of the site are worth developing. We have deliberately turned off Google Signals and ad personalization on this property, so the analytics data cannot be used to build advertising profiles or to retarget you elsewhere.
Where player statistics come from
Team, game, and player statistics are collected from the public websites of the youth leagues we cover, including SCAHA and NorCal. We republish what those leagues already publish: a player’s name, team, jersey number, age level, and game statistics. We compute rankings and comparisons from those figures.
We do not collect or publish contact details, addresses, birth dates, schools, photographs, or medical or injury information about any player, and we do not attempt to identify or contact players or their families.
Players are minors — how to request removal
The players covered here are children, roughly ages 8 through 16. We take that seriously. Although this information is already public on the league sites we draw from, we recognize that a parent or guardian may not want their child’s statistics collected onto a searchable page.
If you are the parent or legal guardian of a player, you can have their page removed. Email privacy@usahockeystats.com with the player’s name and team. We will remove the player’s page and suppress them from leaderboards and search, and we will keep them suppressed on future data refreshes. No account or proof of identity is required to make the request — we would rather honor an unverified removal than delay a legitimate one. Requests are handled within seven days.
This site is intended for parents, coaches, and adults following youth hockey. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because there are no accounts or forms anywhere on the site, there is no way for a child to submit personal information to us. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Corrections work the same way: if a statistic or classification is wrong, email us and we will fix it or explain where the source data says otherwise.
Who else receives data
Google Analytics is the only third-party service that receives anything about your visit, and it receives only the analytics described above. Its handling of that data is governed by Google’s privacy policy. We do not use advertising networks, social media pixels, session recording, heat mapping, or any data broker. We do not disclose personal information to anyone else except where the law requires it.
Your choices
You can opt out of analytics entirely in any of these ways, and the site will keep working normally:
- Install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or via an extension. We honor it as an opt-out signal.
- Block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, or browse in a private window.
- Use any content blocker — we do not detect or work around them.
How long we keep things
Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Player statistics are kept as long as the site operates, since the site’s purpose is historical comparison — except where removal has been requested, in which case suppression is permanent.
California residents
This section is your Notice at Collection. The only category of personal information we collect from visitors is internet activity (pages viewed, actions taken, approximate region, device and browser type), collected for analytics and site improvement, as described above. We do not collect the other statutory categories from visitors, and we retain nothing that identifies you personally.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — including the personal information of anyone under 16. There is therefore no “Do Not Sell or Share” process to offer, because there is nothing being sold or shared. You may still email us to ask what we hold about you, or to request deletion, and we will respond without requiring an account.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Administrative access is protected by a hashed session token in an HttpOnly cookie. Because we hold no visitor accounts and no payment data, there are no credentials of yours for us to lose.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date at the top changes with it. Material changes to what we collect will be reflected here before the change takes effect.
